I know how I got here, but I don't know how to leave

“I know how I got here, but I don't know how to leave.”
This series begins with the uncomfortable feeling of being late to the party. Not to a particular one, but to humanity itself. A sense that some of humanity’s best days might already be behind us, while the future feels increasingly narrow, fragile and difficult to believe in.

The work does not deny that decline. It uses it as material. The party becomes an allegory for a world past its peak, still excessive, unstable and open enough to be rearranged. What interests me is the point where old promises have stopped working and something else has to be made from what remains.

Rooted in Berlin’s subculture, I stage these scenes to create my own counterweight to that feeling. The long exposures slow everything down, so in the dark I can make room for curiosity and play.

For me, the act of making is the optimistic part. Not because it fixes anything, but because it refuses to leave decline as the final image.
