Berlin comes in pieces. These are some.
Berlin and Lara have a difficult relationship, full of love, mistrust and occasional breakups. But they keep holding on, mostly because they don’t know who they are without each other.
These encounters are her default mode. Some of the people are strays she picked up over the years and kept, others are just passing through.
Over time, this unfinished collection became political almost by accident. For all the misfits, friends and strays, the world around them is becoming restrictive again. Simply existing outside the norm seems to be going quietly out of fashion. Holding on to these fragments is also a way of refusing that.
This is no portrait of Berlin, only a subjective map of the parts that stayed.
